Behavior Interactive reveals the first LGBTQIA2 + character in Dead By Daylight

The eleventh book of Dead By Daylight in the Archives: Devotion series includes more information on David King, who, according to Behavior Interactive, will be revealed as the first LGBTQIA2 + character in an asymmetric multiplayer title.

A survivor named David King is now playable in the game, and the studio claims King is a fan favorite, “conveniently positioned in the top ten as one of the most played characters in the kingdom.” However, tomorrow’s new Book will allow fans to discover David King’s memories that will shed light on their identity, revealing that they are the first LGBTQIA2 + character in the game.

“Now boasting over 50 million players worldwide, Dead by Daylight’s undeniable success is largely due to an active and dedicated community, including energetic LGBTQIA2 + players,” writes Behavior Interactive in a press release. “Many fans missed having more representation in the game and expressed the need to identify with their favorite characters and will be delighted to dig through book 11 of Archives: Devotion. New Tome, available on 28 Arpil, will uncover memories of the Twins as well as the survivor David King, revealing his struggle to come to terms with homosexuality. ”

Behavior Interactive says David King is a hot-tempered rascal prone to scrap good whose time as a debt collector has brought pain both internally and externally.

“While a piece of his life from before the fog was revealed earlier, there is much left to discover,” the press release reads. “Throughout the dedication, fans will discover that part of his personal struggle revolves around accepting his own identity and sexuality. David’s memories will take players to a pub where talking about romantic relationships leads him to talk more about his personal life, including his ex-boyfriend.

“Implementing inclusiveness and representation in a meaningful way within the Dead by Daylights storyline has been the focus of the development team over the past few years. The creators’ priority was to create content devoid of negative clues, not simply checking a box. To achieve this, the team worked with GaymerX, a consulting organization dedicated to delivering best practices for integrating LGBTQIA2 + themes into established games. The nonprofit was strictly offering support regarding in-game content and how to approach different stories without falling into a harmful representation. ”

In addition to David King, the new Book also introduces additional story content to Dead by Daylight, as well as new outfits and collections.

“Among the fan favorites that appear in every Archive Book are the new outfits available for the Rift,” reads the press release. “In Devotion, players will be able to unlock the New World Passenger outfit for the Twins as well as the Night in the City outfit for David King. Tome also has a new and returning collection. The Spring Ensembles collection includes, among other things, the Blooming Delusion Very Rare Combination Outfit for The Artist, the Very Rare Combination and Combination Outfit from the Baseball Series for Jonah Vasquez, and the Organic Monstrosity Very Rare Combine and Combine Outfit. Match your outfit with the Scourge. The Urban Art Collection will present players with a new, very rare outfit for Nea: The Stockholm Art Fest. “

Tome 11: Devotion is coming to Dead by Daylight tomorrow, April 28, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia and PC.
