AMD is expected to roll out the next-gen Ryzen 7000 desktop processors based on the 5nm Zen 4 architecture and the corresponding AM5 platform as early as September 2022, DigiTimes reports.
AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors with next-gen Zen 4 cores and the AM5 platform will be released in September 2022.
The AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and the AM5 platform are eagerly anticipated by many as it is an entirely new ecosystem designed for the next generation of gamers and content creators. AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors will in the first place bring gamers brand new Zen 4 core technology based on 5nm process node, as well as implement the new AM5 platform, which offers many new features such as DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5.0 support among several other technologies .
According to DigiTimes sources in the industry, AMD is expected to introduce the next-generation Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and the AM5 platform as early as September 2022. This would mean the launch could take place in the next four months, but AMD is also expected to reveal more details on Computex 2022, which will be the main event showcasing Zen 4.
Expected CPU features for AMD Ryzen “Zen 4” desktops:
- Brand New Zen 4 CPU Cores (IPC / Architectural Enhancements)
- Brand new TSMC 5nm Process Node with 6nm IOD
- Support for AM5 platform with LGA1718 socket
- Dual channel DDR5 support
- 28 PCIe lanes (for CPU only)
- 65-120 W TDP (upper range ~ 170 W)
Not only are we expected to get more performance details, but AMD is also expected to provide more detailed demos and take a better look at its AM5 platform. So much so that the company has already given its partners the green light to present its first AM5 products (albeit at the prototype stage) on the trading floor. It just sucks that due to all the pandemic restrictions and regulations, we chose not to visit Computex this year, otherwise we would have provided you with our next-gen hands-on motherboards. We also managed to get some new details about the AMD AM5 platform, which will consist of new motherboards with LGA 1718 sockets. It looks like the motherboards will be presented right after the AMD Computex presentation and we also expect a slightly improved version of the top X670 chipset , now referred to as the X670E. We do not know the exact details of this chipset, but rest assured that they are based on the design of the chipset. With that said, the actual launch will be a few months later when AMD will announce the actual Ryzen 7000 processors along with their prices. It looks like an event akin to Gamescom 2022 would make sense, but at the moment we’re looking forward to AMD’s big showcase at Computex 2022.
