Apple’s new leak doubles with the iPhone 14 Design Shock

Apple’s plans for the iPhone 14 Pro are bold, but it’s likely the company’s refusal to make any significant changes to the standard iPhone 14 models that hides a real shock. And that got even worse …

Following eye-opening reports in February that both the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will again run out of Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display technology, now the industry’s most accurate whistleblower has now doubled that news.

09/05 Update: Extremely Popular (8.3M Subscribers) Apple YouTuber EverythingApplePro (aka Filip Koroy) has he plunged further into the new design of the iPhone 14. Koroy captured the blueprints of the iPhone 14 Pro models and printed them in 3D, admitting that “at first glance, it doesn’t seem like much has changed,” but on closer inspection it turned out that the handset has been moved higher on the phone.

Koroy cautions these changes don’t add a lot of screens, but take the iPhone’s lineage into a bold new direction. Koroy also adds that the diagrams “absolutely confirmed” the new double-hole on the Pro models, with the standard iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max retaining the notch. For iPhone 14 Pro buyers, 2022 looks like an exciting year of updates, but those considering the standard iPhone 14 should probably wait until 2023 when bigger changes are coming.

In an attempt to correct an inaccurate report, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), tweeted that “Pro Models Only” will have ProMotion. And given Young’s remarkable accomplishments, this looks like the final nail in the coffin for a technology that has become both popular and ubiquitous in mid-to-high-end Android smartphones in recent years.

And I have the impression that Apple is locked in a corner here. This year, Apple is determined to increase the separation between its Pro and non-Pro iPhones and cannot do so by giving standard iPhone models a feature called “ProfessionalMotion’. This is despite the fact that there’s nothing particularly Pro about ProMotion in 2022. It’s a rare example of Apple’s marketing jargon that comes back to bite the company and couldn’t have come at a worse time.

By another name, ProMotion would be an easy and popular upgrade for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. The high refresh rate screens provide a level of smoothness and responsiveness that is simply not possible on a 60Hz display, while reducing eye strain. Apple itself sells ProMotion as a “display that changes the game.”

But without it, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max have almost nothing to recommend. In an unprecedented move, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will reuse the design, display technology, camera modules, and chipset from the iPhone 13. All major improvements are saved for the iPhone Pro models.

Moreover, it is happening at a time when Apple is likely to be forced to price hikes across the entire range. So Apple needed an easy win, and ProMotion could be it. In the current climate, market analysts are now asking questions about the potential success of this series, and they might just be right.
