How to digitize text on a smartphone

You may have a flatbed scanner at home or one of these “all-in-one” printer / scanner / copier, but did you know that your smartphone’s camera can also function as a flatbed scanner?

Not only is scanning something away from your computer quick and convenient, but the quality is surprisingly good thanks to much better camera sensors and smarter software.

Your iPhone or Android device is also perfect for digitizing old photos (in frames, albums, or hanging on the wall), documents (menus, contracts, vaccination certificates), notes, business cards, plaque and receipts (great for tracking expenses or refunds )) – and then storing these images when you need them or sending them to someone else, if necessary, by email or SMS.

Of course, “scanning” really means taking “a picture” of what you’re pointing your camera at, but the technology can go beyond that.
