The most disturbing monsters of the Elden Ring

Elden’s Ring has a long list of monsters ranging from giant bears to ulcerated tree spirits. The In-Between lands host all kinds of hostile creatures, be they animals, humans, or the undead. However, what fans remember the most are the monsters that are disturbing, and there are tons of them.

Disturbing monsters Elden’s Ring they are found everywhere, not only in dark and gloomy places. While many of them are disturbing due to the design, from the visual aspects to the sounds they make, there is also a heavy tradition behind some of them. Many of them are commonly found, while others stand out with the boss’s health bar.

Worm face and finger crawlers

Wormface is a boss that can be found near Minor Erdtree on the Altus Plateau. He is humanoid and masked, and his namesake is a disturbing trait: his head is made of worms. It is not unique, there are smaller bugs that can be found both on the Altus Plateau and on the decaying Farum Azula. Knowledge about them is still unknown.

Finger vines are very common enemies in the Inbetween, they can be found at the Caria estate, on Mount Glemir, in the canals of the Royal Capital of Leyndell, at the Giant’s Summits, and around the Lake Liurni. They are disturbing not only because they are disembodied hands, but they are distorted and move like spiders. They also hunt for prey by jumping down the mountain or luring someone’s hand underground.

Funeral guard dogs and vaccinated descendant

Funeral guard dogs can be found in many catacombs in the In Between, and they have faces that look like something out of a nightmare with sunken eyes, bat ears, and crooked teeth. The way they move is also not comfortable as their attacks are quick and jerky while they can float or walk on two legs. Many fans have called him one of the scariest bosses in the game.

The tutorial boss is also one of the most disturbing creatures as it is a pure product of body horror. He’s like Godrick the Vaccinated, but scarier because of the way he walks through the spiders. Game modder and dataminer, Zullie the Witch, even took off his coat to see what’s underneath to find out that the Vaccinated Descendant has chest implanted on top of his arm collection.

Divine Skins and Disciples of Rennala

There are different types of Divine Skins, from the nobility to the apostles, but they all share the same disturbing quality: wearing clothes made of human skin. Upon inspection, it’s easy to see that their coats are still full of faces. They are disturbing like the Vaccinated Descendant, except for the misshapen skin instead of the limbs. According to tradition, these enemies were once allowed to let the Dark Eye Queen kill the gods before being defeated by Maliketh.

Rennali students, on the other hand, do not have skin covers or additional limbs, but their behavior is often considered the most disturbing. Their introduction is very memorable, they all hold candles, smile, giggle, sing and crawl across the library floor. They are fairly easy to kill, but that doesn’t make them any less terrifying.

Giant Dogs and Iron Maidens

Giant dogs have been dubbed “T-Rex dogs” by players due to their strange body shape. Their front legs are very small and their rear legs are huge. They can be found all over Caelid, as well as at Giant’s Summits and Dragon Wheelbarrows. While their design is terrifying, they are also swift and powerful enemies, comparable to Caelid Crows and Runbears.

The Iron Maidens are monstrous death machines that can be found at Caelid, Volcano Manor, Caria Manor, Mount Gelmir, and Raya Lucaria Academy. In keeping with tradition, they were originally made in the Volcano Manor in the likeness of Tanith. Their designs are not the most disturbing about them, it is their grabbing attack. If they manage to catch the prey and pull it into the built-in cage, the prey is usually killed by the spikes like an Iron Maiden’s torture tool.

Royal Phantoms and Rykard

The King’s Wraiths can be found in the Ruins of the King’s Kingdom and Lake Liurnia. They are quite similar to the Grafted Offspring in that they have a collection of human limbs, but are now even more spider-like. Their faces are scary, as if they were paralyzed in the process of screaming, and their attacks are also quick and aggressive.

Rykard is a nightmare for anyone who is afraid of snakes. The portraits around Volcano Manor are all that is left of his human appearance. He sacrificed himself to become one with the serpent that devours God. The snake now has Rykard’s face under his neck, and doesn’t seem to even notice the player until he beats the snake – as if he was in a deep sleep while the snake is in control. In the snake he also holds a sword covered with worm veins.

Giant crows and people from the village of windmills

Giant crows are very similar to the giant dogs that can also be found in Caelid. They can also be found at the Giant’s Summits and the Mohgqyn Palace. They are deformed like dogs, with a large beak with rows of sharp shark teeth and undersized wings. They are powerful and clever enemies, and sometimes even pretend to be dazed to lure players into attack.

There are also women from Windmill Village. Fans still wonder what their story is, but even without it, they’re incredibly scary. These blood-soaked old women dance and seem to be throwing a party. A ghost nearby crouches and begs them not to take his skin away. They are not always hostile, but when they are, they become demons with glowing red eyes.

Elden’s Ring is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
