Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of the Odyssey Ark, the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen, adding an entirely new format to its industry-leading Odyssey line. The huge display provides a refresh rate of 165 Hz, a response time of 1 ms (GtG),1 plus a brand new cockpit mode and an exclusive controller, the Ark Shield – offering the best window to the gaming world with unparalleled immersion.

The groundbreaking Odyssey Ark is designed to deliver an amazing cinematic experience, great gaming performance and an interface that offers completely optimized flexibility. The Odyssey Ark, originally unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year, was awarded the CES Innovation Award Honoree.
A new cinematic experience that appeals to your senses
The large 55-inch screen wraps around the user’s field of view thanks to the 1000R curvature, filling the user’s peripheral vision. This is further emphasized by the cockpit mode, which allows the screen to be rotated using the HAS (Height Adjustable Base) function, tilt and swivel for an optimal screen environment which creates a new feeling of being immersed in the world.
The Odyssey Ark uses Samsung’s Quantum Matrix technology, employing Quantum Mini LEDs, which enable ultra-accurate and precise control of densely packed LEDs. Thanks to the newly added 14-bit processing, advanced lighting control technology, gamers can see both dark and light scenes, including 16,384 black levels, for ultra-realistic graphics.
The ratio of static contrast to one million to one enhances even the most subtle details with perfect clarity. What’s more, the Neural Quantum Processor Ultra takes content quality to a new level, using data generated from 20 neural networks to enhance every visual detail, scaling content to 4K resolution.
For the perfect cinematic experience, Odyssey Ark uses Samsung Matte Display and Sound Dome technology. The matte display provides both anti-glare and anti-glare protection, minimizing distraction and keeping users focused on the content in front of them. Odyssey Ark introduces great sound with “Sound Dome Tech” equipped with AI Sound Booster and Dolby Atmos to enhance the surround sound experience. Four speakers, one in each corner, and two center woofers deliver realistic and rich sound thanks to a 2.2.2 channel of 60W power with the lowest notes of 45Hz from any gaming screen or gaming soundbar.

Along with a 165Hz refresh rate, Odyssey Ark combines 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) with 1ms response time (GtG) with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, maximizing on-screen accuracy and giving gamers a competitive advantage in rapidly changing environments. Flexible interface to find the perfect settings for victory
Gamers increasingly expect a personalized and customizable gaming experience. Odyssey Ark provides a host of innovative features that allow players to adjust screen size, position and even aspect ratio for optimal game setup. First, the Ark Dial is solar powered – sole controller of the Ark of the Odyssey – can quickly and easily control various settings including Flex Move Screen, Multi View, Quick Settings and Game Bar.
The Flex Move Screen feature allows users to adjust the screen size from 55 to 27 inches, change the screen position and even change the screen aspect ratio between 16: 9, 21: 9 and 32: 9 – all with one touch of the Ark Dial. This freedom is not only a horizontal position, but also a vertical position, giving users even more control over the visual experience. Multi View allows users to take full advantage of the large screen by displaying up to four screens simultaneously in landscape mode or three in cockpit mode. This eliminates the need for a multi-monitor setup so gamers can enjoy a clutter-free environment.
Game bar3 is a powerful tool that allows players to quickly and easily view game status and control important settings without leaving the game screen. From checking FPS (frames per second), HDR (high dynamic range) and VRR (variable refresh rate), to adjusting settings such as screen aspect ratio, response time and game image mode, the game bar puts the player in control and is on the way to victory .
In addition to being equipped with a solar panel, the Ark Dial can also be charged via a USB Type-C connector, eliminating the need for disposable batteries.
