Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4 – 1 Real Mallorca; 2022 The League

Carlo Ancelotti made five changes to the team that won in Glasgow during the midweek game. There were minutes for Lucas Vázquez, Rudiger, Rodrygo, Hazard and an unusual start from Dani Ceballos. Real Mallorca arrived at the Bernabéu looking to defend in depth and look for the goal on the counterattack or from set pieces. In the first half, Mallorca managed to do just that, but finally Madrid, and in particular Vinicius and Rodrygo, broke through and their quality shone through. Full match player ratings below:

Thibaut Courtois—6: Only 19 touches in the game and 1 save. Mallorca barely got past the center circle. No foul on Muriqi’s goal.

Lucas Vazquez—7: Look at this heat map and he was basically a right winger. He was fouled 3 times and earned a dangerous free throw high up the field. He worked tirelessly in transition to track down Kang-In Lee.

Antonio Rüdiger—7: Very solid performance in defense and ends with his first goal with Real Madrid, a volley from a set piece by Toni Kroos.

David Alaba—7: He almost recreated the Betis goal by throwing another perfect pass to Vinicius early in the game. He finished the game at left back to bring more fluidity to the attack.

Ferland Mendy—5: Terrible marking on goal by Muriqi – he didn’t even challenge the striker in the air. He made one of the most dangerous passes of the first half, a cut ball to Rodrygo’s chest inside the area.

Toni Kroos—8: He generally played like a deep-lying playmaker today with Tchoaumeni and Camavinga on the bench. He recorded a late assist on Toni Rudiger’s goal.

Fede Valverde-8: He scored the goal of the season. He starts from his own half and carries the ball some 60 yards before a perfect shot off his left foot hits the top corner of the net.

Dani Ceballos—8: He ran tirelessly all afternoon. She felt that she sometimes ran to cover ground when it wasn’t necessary. He managed a couple of long shots that disturbed the Majorcan goal. He got the crowd going after wriggling free from intense pressure, even falling to the ground at one point, getting back up and sending a vertical pass to Vinicius.

Rodrygo goes—9: The Brazilian was the player who ran the ball the most into the area and got into dangerous positions. He had 2-3 shots in the first half, but he couldn’t convert the shots into a goal. The final production from him came in the second half with a nice assist from Vinicius on the go-ahead goal and then his own goal (the team’s third) after some lovely skill to beat 2 or 3 players.

Vinicius Junior—8.5: One of the players needed to unlock a deep lock. Vini was never afraid to dribble, or even show off, and suffered a couple of tough challenges for his efforts. Despite Mallorca’s physical beating, Vinicius managed to score the go-ahead goal with a slight oversight on Rajkovic. The Brazilian has already scored in five consecutive games.

Peril of Eden—5: He fell deep to try and tie the game together, but had no real impact on the match.

Nacho—6.5: He played as central defender, moving Alaba to left back, for the last 30 minutes.

Luka Modric—6.5: He replaced Eden Hazard, but moved to midfield and pushed Fede with Rodrygo in the middle.

Dani Carvajal—6: Substituted an injured Lucas Vázquez in the 70th minute.

Eduardo Camavinga—6.5: He replaced Dani Ceballos and played the last 20 minutes. He had 15 touches and 11 accurate passes.
