A canceled Halo Infinite split-screen campaign may be canceled by an exploit

Last week An infinite halo The development team announced that it has pulled back on its long-standing promise to support split-screen collaboration in the game’s campaign mode. The feature was delayed multiple times before being thrown in the trash, and the decision dispelled the hopes of anyone wanting to enjoy the game’s campaign with at least one friend on one screen.

Within days, fans hinted that the feature was working on Xbox consoles all the time, though due to a glitch – which, so far in the press, has yet to be fixed An infinite haloretail version for Xbox consoles. Following reports and videos on the exploit, the game analyst team confirmed during hours of campaign testing that An infinite haloThe split-screen mode is functional – we just need to scratch our head what the hell is going on on the Xbox.

How to do it yourself

Before I post any instructions, a warning: Using this exploit could affects or even nucleates your Xbox An infinite halo Save the files. This is due to a prolonged error, reported in December, where An infinite halo is wrong if two gamepads are logged into the same “gamertag” profile on one console. Assigning a separate gamertag to each connected controller before launching the game seems to fix the problem, but you’ve been warned.

Currently, this exploit requires an online connection and at least one person on your Xbox friends list to run the game at the same time as you. They might just leave the game in the background on their Xbox for your purposes, but it’s still an inconvenience. After starting An infinite halo, make sure your friend is online by using the Xbox back button (menu button directly to the right of the D-pad with two overlapping squares) to load the built-in friend list interface in the game. In fact, go ahead and practice loading this menu by highlighting your friend’s name and tapping the A button to bring up the “join” menu option. Don’t join their online sessions just yet.

On your own console, start the normal steps of starting a Halo Infinite single player campaign session. Select your preferred save file (presumably a new one to enjoy a fresh collaboration with your partner, but you do), then start the session. The game will start to count down from “five” and here you need to stay alert. On instant the countdown reaches “zero”, tap the gamepad’s “back” button, select a friend and join their session. You don’t have much time for this, especially if you’re using the faster-charging Xbox Series X / S console. (Aren’t you glad you practiced this step earlier?)

If done correctly, you are turned on. You can now leave your friend’s session (use the “Leave Fireteam” toggle in the menu you’re currently in) and let them know they can turn off the Xbox if they want. When you exit the online session, use the “B” button to back out Infinitetop-level menu (with four tabs at the top: Play, Customize, Community, Store). While still in the Play tab, tap “Custom Game”. This suggests that you’re going to play a simple match against, but your Xbox has a campaign loaded so you’re still in good shape.

The only option you need to touch in this menu is “Server”, which you will change from “Xbox Live” to “Local Online”. Do this, then press “Start” on the second controller you activated (again, we suggest assigning a unique gamertag to this pad, not a duplicate or “guest” tag) to add it to your fireteam. It looks like you’ve added one opponent to a simple versus match. Instead, you added a cooperation partner. After confirming P2 in this menu, select “play” and the campaign will start.
