The program is designed to give developers and tech-savvy users early access to new Windows 11 features and improvements (opens in a new tab). However, in the early days of the new version, the previews contain bugs, incomplete features, and issues that can negatively impact day-to-day usability.
If you have a device enrolled in beta or preview release channels, you should consider quitting the program to take a break and stay on 22H2 without reinstalling Windows 11.
This guide walks you through the steps to gracefully opt out of the Windows Insider Program.
How do I stop Insider builds from installing new Windows 11 previews?
To stop receiving Windows 11 previews before deploying new builds for the next version, do the following:
- open Settings.
- Click here Windows Insider Program tab on the right.
- Click here “Stop receiving preview builds” setting.
- Turn on “Unregister this device when the next version of Windows is released” switch.
After following these steps, your device will still preview Windows 11 22H2, but once the final build begins rolling out, your computer will neatly give up the program.
When a device is disabled from the program, it will continue to receive maintenance updates as long as the update is supported.
