iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: What’s the Difference?

The arrival of the new line of iPhones 14 doesn’t mean the iPhone 13 is gone. Just like Apple did with previous versions of the iPhone, the company has kept some of the annual iPhone models in its range as a more affordable option in its iPhone range.

This year, Apple kept the iPhone 13 for $ 699 and the iPhone 13 Mini for $ 599, giving iPhone users the option to purchase one or purchase a new iPhone 14 for $ 799 or an iPhone 14 Plus for $ 899 USD.

There have never been two iPhone models that reflect as closely in terms of features and capabilities as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, and both are among the best phones you can buy. For this reason, deciding which iPhone is right for you has become even more difficult this year. Below, we’ll walk you through the key differences to help you decide which iPhone is right for you.

Apple replaced the smallest iPhone with the iPhone 14 Plus. The 6.7-inch display outshines the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini and gives iPhone owners the ability to increase performance without paying a premium for an iPhone 14 Pro Max that is the same size as the iPhone 14 Plus.

The larger display is nice, but so is the battery life that a larger phone allows. Actually, that’s why I preferred the Pro Max models with each new iPhone release. Battery life on larger phones has increased by a few hours and is good enough to survive the long days of travel where I constantly stream music using Maps, Uber and TripIt for my travel activities.

For previous iPhone launches, if you wanted a 6.7-inch iPhone, you’d have to pick the iPhone Pro Max – a device that starts at $ 1,099. The iPhone 14 Plus starts at $ 899 for 128GB of storage. The only downside? You’ll have to wait for this – the iPhone 14 Plus is currently available for pre-order, but delivery won’t start until October 7.

iPhone 14 and 14 Plus come with two new security features. With Crash Detection, all iPhone 14 models can now detect a car accident and call for help. In November, Apple will launch the Emergency SOS feature by satellite, which will allow iPhone 14 owners to send emergency messages using satellites to call for help. This is a fantastic feature for someone who hikes a lot or travels in areas with no cellular coverage.

Emergency SOS via satellite will be free for the first two years. Apple has not said what the cost will be after this event.

Finally, the iPhone 14’s camera setup is better than the iPhone 13. For the average user, the differences won’t matter much – but for someone looking to take better photos and videos, the iPhone 14’s camera system is where it is.

There is a 12-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and now the front camera has autofocus to improve the quality of taking selfies. Real improvements can be found in the way the iPhone 14 processes images, capturing more detail and more accurate colors.

And finally, the iPhone 14 camera has a new video trick called Action Mode. When recording video in action mode, the camera stabilizes the video and removes almost all shake. It is designed for use in situations where stabilizing the camera is not really possible, such as when running.

When you look at the specs sheet and compare the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 14, it’s pretty much the same device. True, the sizes do not match because Apple got rid of the Mini iPhone model by replacing it with the iPhone 14 Plus.

Additionally, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 use virtually the same Bionic A15 processor. The only difference between the chip that powers both models is the iPhone 14 processor, which has one more GPU core than the iPhone 13. This results in increased graphics performance (and slightly higher results in our benchmarks), but in everyday use the difference is such that it is irrelevant.

Both models use the same display technology, have two rear-facing cameras, 5G connectivity, Face ID and have the same capacities.

Apple estimates the battery life of the iPhone 14 is 20 hours, while the iPhone 13 is 19 hours of continuous video streaming. It’s not that big of a difference, and we found both phones to be similarly durable in our own testing.

The iPhone 13 line is now limited to the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and the smaller 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini. For some, the smaller overall surface of the iPhone 13 Mini is easier to manage and easier to use, especially with one hand, compared to the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 or even the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus.

With the iPhone 13 Mini, you still get the same features, performance, and reliable camera as you do with the iPhone 13.

The only potential weakness of the iPhone 13 Mini is battery life, as a smaller phone means less battery. However, the 13 Mini only tapped about 30 minutes ahead of the standard 13 in our testing, so you won’t be sacrificing too much on Apple’s smaller phone.

With so many similarities between iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, the decision may come down to your preferred color. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are available in Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, Green, and Product (RED).

iPhone 14 is available in a different shade of Blue, Violet, Midnight, Starlight and Product (RED). In addition to slightly different colors, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have a more muted color palette – in addition to the vibrant Product (RED) offering. The iPhone 13, however, is brighter and, in my opinion, a professional dad much cooler, especially for teens and teens.
