One of the rumors about the iPhone 14 that never worked was some kind of astrophotography feature, but that didn’t stop users from showing what the camera on the iPhone 14 Pro models can do when it’s pointed at the night sky.

These fantastic shots shared by MacGossip forum member ToddH was captured with an iPhone 14 Pro Max in Night Mode with a maximum exposure time of 30 seconds in the Camera app.

Photos taken at ISO 12500 and ISO 10000 at the 12MP setting (“Night Mode” is not available when the 48MP setting is on), photos were taken in Apple’s ProRAW format and then edited with the Lightroom mobile version on the iPhone itself.

To take a picture, ToddH says he has attached an iPhone 14 Pro Max to a tripod with a Skywatcher tracker that moves in the opposite direction of the Earth’s rotation, making the sky appear still to the camera to avoid elongation and make the stars appear look precise.
